Well done John!
Today John Swabey edged out Arthur Forbes and Allan Morris to win his first Belgian Association Croquet National Championships. The first three all finished on 3 wins from 4 games but John came home on net points.
John, who played with a borrowed mallet throughout (the handle of his own mallet was enjoying an unscheduled vacation in Australia) had looked unbeatable on day 1 but stumbled slightly in his only game on day 2. However the margin of his wins was such that on net points he beat Arthur by a "short head".

Pierre receives his trophy (a valuable 21st century china mug with tea-stains) from John.
The 2009 Belgian national championships for Golf Croquet was won today on the Genval club lawns in front of the Chateau du Lac by Pierre Beaudry, who dropped only one game over the weekend tournament. The field of 7 players (whittled down over the last week by illness and other reasons) played a round robin of single 13 point games on Saturday 5th September, with the results used for seeding the knock-out phase played best-of-three.
Well done Pierre for a convincing win!
Well done Bruno for taking a game off him!
